I was set up with National Express through a broker to move items from my Mother's estate, including many antiques. The broker, Gateway Express in Ormond Beach, FL and driver lead me to believe that my items would be on a single truck and I would be meeting the driver on the other end of the transit. Boy was I stupid. After the shipment left, the driver added a different "first available delivery date" on the order sheet that I had previously signed. The load was unloaded and put on a larger truck for delivery. Due to the fact that my load was removed from the truck and loaded on another, upon delivery, I incurred additional charges. In addition, when I called the movers prior to pick-up and let them know I would not ship a piano, they billed me for it anyway. When I received the shipment it looked as if our boxes had been thrown into the truck. While there were damaged and missing items, they were all sentimental items so it wasn't worth filling out the paperwork for the reduced value they would pay. Awful experience.

If you use this company to move you deserve to lose your things as I did. I have learned my lesson the hard way. If and when you move pay the extra dollar and hire a company that you have been around for years with good reviews. When the packers came to my my house I already packed about 40 boxes and they gave me no credit for my work and materials but that is only the beginning. When the packers had my things loaded they called Shawn about monthly storage and he said $ 250.00 per month and I already had an agreement with the 1st month free and $100.00 per month thereafter. We got into an argument and he not only cussed me out with F bombs and much worse and then he hung up on me. I told the packers unload the whole truck and I will get another mover. One of the packers called this jerk and he agreed to the terms and that is the good news as the bad news is coming. They told me they would deliver my things within 5 business days after I moved into my house, it took them 5 weeks. I didn't know but when movers load everything they are suppose to put a numbered ticket on each item so when unloading you can see all that was packed, they didn't. The paper they gave me after loading the truck looked like a 2 year old wrote it. When I kept demanding my things they said they had a truck breakdown on the East coast and had to send one of their trucks to transfer the things that were on the broke down truck to the one they said they had to send to the East coast. This is a company that said they have 22 trucks. My bet is they rent the trucks they use and the trucks look like it is ready for the junk yard. Then I get a call with a Georgia area code about 4:00 P.M. on a Thursday afternoon and said they were on their way and would be at my house about 11:00 P.M. I told him, John was the name he gave me that our development does not allow deliveries after dark. He said he would make arrangements and have my things no later than Saturday, I never heard back from him. When I finally reached some women she said they might charge me an extra $ 400.00 because I turned down deliveries twice. Not the case. What mover deliveries at 11:00 P.M. I finally talked to some female and she told me this was terrible and was going in to talk to the boss. She promised me that I would have my things the next day and I got them and that was the good news but with good comes bad. I told her and the driver when he was leaving Miami to call me when he got to where I lived because the section is so new we don't have GPS yet. When he called me I told him to wait where he was and I would come a get him but he insisted he was almost to my house. Then tempers flared as he started cussing me out with more F bombs than I can remember. This went on for over an hour and he threaten to take my things back to Miami but when he got to the house all of a sudden he was Mister Sunshine because he wanted a tip. His name was Tony. He was such a nasty man that the young guy riding with him apologized to me and said what this man said to me out of line as I was the customer. And so far that is the good news. My hand was in a cast and I had to have a friend come over and unpack all the boxes. I said to her that please tell me the last box contained all my shoes and you can figure out the answer, no. They stole about 25 pairs of shoes, my soundbar for my television and trashed my bike and stripped it clean. I happen to have a lot of Tommy Bahama shirts with a retail price of about $100.00 each. When they packed my shirts they didn't hang them in a wardrobe box they stuffed every shirt into the sides of one of one box and I had to take about 100 shirts to be pressed so now that is another $300.00. Just about everyday when I look for something it is not here. These people are thieves and liars but when it comes time to pay the monthly storage fee they are Johnny on the spot and want paid right away or they would be a late charge. Then come to find out their insurance pays you $.60 on the pound for lost and broken things. Example you have a big screen television that weighs about 40 lbs and your cost was $1000.00 you will get about $24.00. Thank God I had a policy with Erie insurance. Their insurance company and I think there really isn't one sent my a sheet a paper to fill out wanting to know the brand name, how much I paid and how long ago. Just to show you how stupid they are they requested I take a photograph of all my things that were missing. Please read all the reviews about National Express Van Lines and if you do hire them you deserve to lose thousands of dollars. These people are the lowest of the lowest. My things laid on a floor in some alleged warehouse Miami. I had precious thing that belonged to my 1st and 2nd wife that have past away and they lost all their personal things Take my advice and stay clear, you get what you pay for. Whoever wrote the good reviews must be on drugs. Help put these thieves out of business. I'm at 6 K Bobby B

WARNING ****** DO NOT USE ******NATIONAL EXPRESS VAN LINES********WARNING This is my first review. I write this so that you will find a professional company and not someone who will continue to take money from you. Additionally, the police were contacted after one of their subcontractors drove away with our furniture. See below some key points: 1. The estimate we received was for a 3 bedroom house which they quoted needing only 1000 cubic foot - so the price seemed great. Try imagining all your stuff, sofa, beds, etc fitting into this area - It will not work so extra was paid when the subcontractors arrived and told us we needed more space. Before we knew it, our quote was more than double the initial estimate. 2. The movers did not arrive when we were told as National Express lines looked for the cheapest subcontractor to move us (2 weeks after proposed date). When the subcontractors finally arrived, they were late, we were frustrated and the time taken off work was wasted. 3. The dates given for when they would deliver were also not correct. Again, time off work was taken and they did not show. When they did finally arrive, we unloaded furniture until after 12 midnight. 4. I was advised by National Express Van Lines a few day before delivery that I would need to pay additional fees to move our stuff into a smaller truck as they could not drive an 18 wheeler down my street. They assured me they had contacted the HOA regarding the matter and that I would need to pay the additional amount before I could get my stuff delivered. So..., I checked with the HOA and 18 wheelers were able to deliver down our street. It seemed to be a scam - the operator/coordinator of National Express Vanlines to split this money with the subcontractor that was unloading my furniture. The extra they were trying to charge was about $1400. - Great eh? 5. The Police were involved when the subcontractor drove off with our furniture when he found out he was not getting the extra money from point 4 (above). He drove off - yes drove off into the night with our furniture. After we notified National Express Van Lines, they contacted the police to get him to return. 6. The insurance is a joke. For the numerous damaged items (furniture from stacking incorrectly and cardboard boxes being outside the truck during travel to explain a few items), they have offered us $60. 7. They have no website - Ask yourself why? 8. The subcontractor that brought our furniture from Missouri to Florida only brought part of it. We had to wait until they found a cheap subcontractor to receive the remaining items (4 additional weeks). Numerous phone calls were made to follow-up with where our items were and when we would receive them. 9. No phone call was EVER received to tell us our furniture was finally going to be delivered. I found out the subcontractor was in transit only when I called. 10. As mentioned prior, our flat boxes with wall pictures and mattresses were attacked with bungee cords to the outside of the truck. Our move was across country and they must have gone through rain because the boxes with wall art were wet and our pictures/frames started to develop mold. They did think to wrap our mattresses in plastic but there must have been a slight leak because even they were damp on arrival. I urge you to go to a reputable mover, the stress and anguish are not worth the cash savings.
