Summit Van lines handled our move from Florida to Georgia. The initial pack and pickup was no problem. However, since our delivery date of June 29th; we have encountered nothing but frustration to the point that I now must speak out. When we moved; we selected the increased valuation of $10,000.00 vs a standard valuation of .60 per pound. Meaning if there were losses or damages(many) that the industry standard would have paid us about $72.00 vs. making an offer based upon full replacement value which was estimated by the moving company at $6556.70 The moving company approved a claim to be opened by their "claims department" MOVINGCLAIMS.NET After sending claims packages to them on three different occasions starting in July 2018; they approached us with a "settlement offer" of 72.00 based on their findings that the bill of lading and order for service "clearly stated a standard valuation of .60 per pound" and that I could submit a one time dispute based upon new information. When I informed Charlie (one of the owners) about the error that was made he too said I must file a dispute. This was done on December 5th; A month later I still have nothing to show for my efforts. Summit Van Lines working in connection with MovingClaims.net has done everything they can to dissuade me from filing a complaint against them. I have no choice at this point but to file a complaint.

I was going through my past reviews and noticed that this company changed the name of one of their yelp accounts to hide their negative but accurate reviews. WOW. This was truly the worst experience of my life. My grandmother moved from Florida to Michigan and we trusted Summit with her belongings. Worst mistake I've ever made. Everything showed up completely damaged and ruined. EVERYTHING. When I called to complain they told me I need to file a claim then when that's settled they can help me beyond that. The claim process took 4 months-- yep! 4 months! And they just got back to me-- they're giving her $72! There was over $2000 worth of items damaged. Check out the pictures! And- not only that but they lied to me and in order to get the $72 I have to release Summit from all liability. In your dreams! I'm absolutely not quitting until she gets reimbursed for 100% of what was damaged. Also they create a new yelp page every time there's a bad review so this probably won't last long either. Please trust me and never use this company!

Be careful with this company. This move was the most stressful ever, and this company added to the stress. Of course you can't rely on their over the phone quote. Expect to pay double or more than what they quoted. Also, when they pick up your move they will jack up the price repackaging everything you packaged with additional tapes, blankets, and plastic wrappings. At first you'll be impressed with how they wrap every single article with blankets and plastic, until you get the almost $1,000 materials cost added to the bill. And they do like to load up the truck before telling you the final cost. They like to say what you want to hear so the sales rep will say your move is going directly, but that's never the case. They completely forgot my queen size box spring, later found out it was left in their warehouse. They also completely shattered a glass table which they packed. And although everything was documented, it's been months since my ordeal with them and no ones ever contacted me. At this stage I won't bother. One more important thing. If you do end up using this company, keep track of your items. Get a book and number your boxes and items and keep your own records. They rush through, their own paperwork is badly done and you can have missing items and not know about it. While moving us in there was a table top that didn't belong to me and they insisted I could keep it. I didn't. This is the type of company that you just want to end the nightmare and move on.

But they damaged a television they dropped it unsafely when they transferred it from one truck to another and it fell in a corner of the TV no longer works, they damaged a dining table, they broke a lamp. the estimate was 859 cubic feet for $ 2,500 equivalent to $ 2.91 cubic feet. At the time of moving day They came to my house in the truck and the driver Alex (russian guys)said that there were 1100 cubic feet and that it was $ 3.55 cubic plus 10% surcharge gas plus $ 399 for packing materials in other words they wanted me to pay $ 4000 .... after discussing it they left at $ 3500 but left things in the old house garage like a plastic plant a game table, books, worth $ 500 in losses. They damage cost $ 450 for the TV, $ 50 for the lamp, Dining table $ 500. Beware of the sales guy David Carver is a liar he said that I would not worry about the cubic feet because this was a flat rate that included everything labor and materials for $ 2500 When I called him and made a complaint, he hung up the phone and did not answer again. And Driver Alex was very rude because he also worked on commission. I tried to cancel everything but they had me tied up with my deposit of $ 650 dollars that David asked me a week ago. This was a nightmare. The truck that brought my move was another yellow PENSKE rental driven by a sub-contractor and there in the florida was another white truck .. on transferring everything they damaged many things like my television
