We have our house back together, thanks to 5-Star Moving. Carlos and a helper came over on August 27 and moved all our living room and dining room furniture into the kitchen and the "new" dining room (built in 1987). This was how we did it the last time we had the floors refinished 20 years or so ago. I had scheduled the furniture to be returned September 13 when I made the initial appointment. The return didn't work as smoothly, the fault of our answering machine blocking Lucas' confirmation calls. I don't understand how that happened but it has happened before, when the machine blocked M&M garage when my car was being repaired. I didn't realize my car was ready for another 2 or 3 days. My mistake in this case was in not giving Lucas our cell phone numbers as I did Dale Swirsding. When Lucas couldn't reach me after many attempts he canceled our appointment. So we waited for him yesterday and he didn't show up. I called twice and finally reached him. He had to use his wife's phone to get through our telephone's blocking to call me back. We agreed he would come over at 9:00 this morning. He arrived w/ a helper. We discussed the miscommunication and they set to work moving everything back into place, hanging a couple of art pieces from the ceiling and hooking up the stereo speakers. I have not yet returned all the art glass and other fragile objects that I had packed away to their places, but the house now looks and sounds like ours again, w/ no empty house echoes.

If you need the best movers in town these are the guys to use! We had a small move but they took their time to make sure every piece was well wrapped and secured. Guys were both happy, laughing and fun. Made the whole experience of moving that much better! Would recommend to anyone!

We rented a Penske moving truck but needed help in loading it. Lucas (the owner), and Abu showed up and even helped me guide the truck into a tight space in front of our unit. They expertly and quickly loaded the boxes and belongings. They were professional and courteous as everyone knows moving can be stressful. I highly recommend them for your moving needs!

I am very happy with my experience with 5-Star Moving and highly recommend them! Out of 6 companies that I called, Lucas was the only one to take the time to ask for more info about my furniture to give me the most accurate quote. He was very professional and even gave a reminder/confirmation call the day before our appointment. I've worked with another moving company around El Cerrito/Berkeley area before but from now on, I'll be calling 5-Star Moving for all my future local moving needs! Lucas and Kevin arrived on time and helped me move from a 2-bedroom townhouse (2 flights of stairs) to a 2-bedroom apartment (1 flight of stairs). Their dynamic was great and I can definitely see why they have such good teamwork together. Moving altogether is stressful but they were fun to work with since they were very personable. They both are very hard workers too and did not take any breaks until the move was completed. Both of them handled my furniture and boxes with care and they went the extra mile to make sure my mattress would stay clean without a mattress bag in their truck. I really appreciated how methodological they were since they were able to efficiently pack the moving truck and then unload according to where each piece of furniture was going to be placed in the apartment. I purchased an antique letterpress that weighs 1200lbs. It was broken down into parts - the heaviest of which was 600 lbs, with the second heaviest not far behind. The parts of the press had to be moved down a flight of stairs, as the press was on the second floor of a single-apartment-style building. After having no luck in finding any moving company who would help me with the move of my press down the stairs and into a truck, I found 5 Star Moving - and thank goodness! I explained my situation to Lucas, the owner, who was very confident in his team's abilities to get the job done, and was able to schedule my move within a few days of my very strict date and time. I ended up calling him an hour before my move was scheduled, as there was a delay that would push the start time back 2.5 hours! He was totally cool about it and we were able to reschedule. A team of four gentlemen showed up early, and demonstrated professionalism, smarts, and tenacity throughout the whole process. I was beyond impressed with everyone - the team got everything done without getting hurt or damaging anything, and they got done in about half the time that we suspected. Everyone should use this service for any move or heavy lift that they need help with!
