These movers are hit-or-miss. We had used them before and actually recommended them to family and friends. But this last move from NY to California was very disappointing. The good: everyone was nice and professional. Our move was completed as scheduled, so no issues there. The bad: Our most valuable possessions were damaged. The crew in NY was understaffed. The guys we had worked SO hard, but they didn't have enough help. As a result, our pack-up was done inefficiently and inadequately. Most significantly, the movers smashed the glass doors of our wine refrigerator, which we paid $1700 for... At the time, they said that they would take care of it for us, but in the end, we were offered $42 for it :( Our piano, which we paid extra to move, seems like it must have been dropped, because a corner of it was smashed :(. Likely irreparable, Also, pins necessary to put it back together were not packed and are missing, so we need to find a source for those parts. A custom large frame has a big nick in it. Also appears that this was dropped or packed in a rush. Customer service was lovely and really tried to help, and was able to get us some money back for the additional square footage that was charged (because in the rush, furniture was not properly taken apart and took up way more space than estimated), but otherwise could not get us compensated for our damaged items. So, it seems like with these movers, it is hit-or-miss.

We moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and using this moving company was a great decision! They came highly recommended to us from friends who had made a similar move months before and now we recommend them to everyone we know! Two weeks before our move I filled out an online inventory, got an estimated quote right away, booked the date I wanted and was able to update my inventory as things changed up until a couple days before the move date (I got updated quotes every time I updated the online inventory - super helpful.) Price breakdowns, costs and payment methods were clear and straighforward. The moving teams on both ends were professional, communicative, friendly, and super fast! All our items arrived on time, intact and complete. I had some oddly shaped items that did not fit in standard boxes (artwork, lamps, etc) and the guys found creative solutions to make sure all my belongings were protected. Really appreciate their efforts. On move in day, the guys unboxed and assembled all furniture in record speed and then removed a lot of used packaging materials which really helped us out. (Epi & team in NY and Andres & team in CA) We also got daily status and location updates from the company so we could keep track of how our things were making their way across the country. All our items were put on an inventory list and received unique numbered labels. Great organizational system, helped keep track of our things and confirm we had everything on move in day. Use this company for your next cross country move - you won't regret it!

The service was great, from the crew in NJ who efficiently packed our belongings to the communication throughout, all resulting in a smooth move in to our new apt in SF. Highly recommended.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU NEED ADVANCE NOTICE TO MOVE IN Context: Moved from NYC to SF (city not suburbs) Pro: Good moving crew, items handled carefully (nothing that was packaged well broke), fair price, move out in NYC was fine and went very smoothly Cons: It was much harder than necessary to schedule and confirm the delivery. First, the estimated delivery is a stretch of 8 possible days. This is not specific enough. The exact date can only be locked in once the shipment arrives in California. This is fine if one is moving to the suburbs with a dedicated driveway and no other party to coordinate with. But I was moving to the middle of downtown where I had to coordinate with the city for temporary parking signs and the building for the move in date. I needed to give 7 days notice before the delivery date to coordinate with all these parties with strict rules. The CA-NY Express team was not able to give me a confirmation on time, even after repeated calls to the customer service team. Because I needed to order a temporary parking sign with the city, the team made an unofficial estimate of the delivery date. However, later they told me they could not make that date and my move in date would have to be delayed. We had to pay an additional $287 to order a rushed temporary sign. All in all, the move took 18 calendar days (not their 15 calendar days guarantee), not including holidays for the shipment to arrive. Their inability to confirm deliveries on time and the anxiety that came with it wasn't worth it.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MOVING COMPANY. Oh how I wish Tushar C. would've posted their review before I signed up and moved with CA-NY Express a few months ago!! The packing and loading of our place in CA was a horror show. The CA crew was careless, didn't provide any floor covering even though I requested it in advance, dropped boxes within the first 10 mins of being there, and didn't adequately protect the furniture to be moved until I corrected them about what was promised by the estimator. When I emailed the estimator Ron about the issues, he just said "Thanks for the feedback." The delivery in NY on December 19th would've been pretty good IF a box hadn't gone completely missing and several items hadn't been crushed or broken. Thankfully we packed most of our own household items really well, but any "fragile" stamps on the boxes were completely ignored, resulting in crushed Xmas ornaments and a lampshade. I totally believe Tushar's comment about things being thrown in boxes - one of our boxes apparently broke at the storage facility and they literally threw everything into one of their used boxes (see pic). Re the stuff they packed, we ended up with a damaged cabinet because they put tape directly on the enamel, a broken ceramic side table, and ruined upholstered chairs because they packed heavy items on the arms. I guess we were lucky compared to some others. The customer service/claims is a joke. When I called to complain, a woman told me to email customer service. When I emailed customer service, they responded with a form email and claims form for their basic coverage (60 cents per lb or $4.20 per cubic foot per item (FYI, they go by cubic feet for their pricing and note that an "item" is a box, not all the stuff in it)) and egregious requirements like notarization and sending via certified mail. I haven't submitted the claim yet, but won't be surprised if I end up with a check for $5. Let's face it - the moving industry is one in need of some serious disruption - as it exists now, you're better off getting rid of most of your stuff and starting over fresh in your new location. Whatever you do, DO YOUR HOMEWORK and cross your fingers when you hire a mover. And record/write down everything when the movers pack up and deliver your items. Good luck.
