Moved from San Francisco to Charlotte with these guys. Everything went without a hitch - easy communication leading up to the move, and the pick-up/delivery guys themselves were great. The only complaint I have is that they wanted an arm and a leg to crate up a TV after we added extra insurance for it, but we got that resolved easily enough.
Wish we could award 3.5 stars... Posting after settling with Cross Country Movers. The process has been a beast and I don't wish it on anyone. That said, if it weren't for having to fight to get them to honor their agreements, we would have had a pretty good experience moving cross-country with Cross Country Movers. Having to move can be a really stressful experience. There is no shortage of moving horror stories: movers who don't show up, having your belongings held hostage, lost, stolen or destroyed and move dates being continuously postponed without any updates are common (terrifying) complaints. Thankfully, we didn't have to deal with any of this with Cross Country Movers. Though our issues with Cross Country Movers were not insignificant, they have been managed. Our advice: weigh out what is important to you in your move. We chose based on the good reviews and straightforward flat pricing. We got our belonging delivered, on time, without major damage or loss, but we had to fight (afterward) to get it at the agreed price and terms. Our experience initially corroborated the good reviews, but we had to fight to get the straightforward pricing. If your threshold for a good move is that your belongings make it from point A to B without the egregious practices some companies use - you will likely have a good experience with Cross Country. But if you're looking for honest, consistent business practices...our experience will have us looking elsewhere for future moves. We sincerely hope that our experience is an uncommon one. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.
My cousin needed help making the move from San Francisco to Los Angeles. She was super stressed about the whole move so I decided to take the initiative and help her find a good mover company. I had such a great experience with Cross County Movers and I'm not sure what these other people are taking about! We love supporting local businesses like this one! So now that we put in what we needed moving and how far. Cross Country Movers responded the next day with all the details and pricing and gave us a reasonable quote compared to other companies we were looking at. Then we set a schedule after agreeing on paper and such. On the day of, they came with their trucks and came to her rescue. The guys were very helpful and got everything secured with covers before moving all the cabinets, refrigerator, and all her heavier things. Well organized and placed everything carefully on the truck, didn't force anything in its place. The guys took care of her things as if it were they're own. We used different movers before and they rough and dropped somethings. This was good sign that they were gonna do the same when all her things were delivered. Cross delivered everything safely with no damages from what we can tell from to Los Angeles. Cross Country employees were very easy to work with and even helped unload and moved everything in for her. Well worth it she said. They seriously made this such an easy process. Definitely recommend!
Moving is always a pain. Moving across the country is a nightmare. But, in what is a rather crazy industry, Cross Country Movers were a professional, courteous, efficient and reliable service. I recently moved from Fremont, CA to Columbia, MD and I looked at a number of moving companies. Some of them quoted low prices, but they refused to come to my house to do an in person estimate of the actual items that we had. Others did an in person estimate, but were uncooperative about the dynamics and uncertainties in such a long distance move (long delivery windows). The folks from Cross Country on the other hand were flexible and friendly to deal with. I dealt largely with David who handled the account and he was very helpful and accommodating of the many changes that I wanted with our list of items. On our moving day in Fremont, the crew showed up on time and rapidly proceeded to pack our items (a 3 bedroom house) in about 4 - 5 hours. They took everything that I wanted them to take. Upon receipt of the goods, they kept me informed about the status whenever I bothered them about the status of the delivery. While it took quite some time for the delivery, the goods arrived within the 14 business day delivery window that they had promised. On the day of the delivery the truck showed up on time and they efficiently managed to off load all of our goods in about 4 hours. It turned out that one of the items was missing and when I pointed that out to the driver he drove back to his trailer (they used a shuttle truck for delivery) and found the box and delivered it. That was pretty much the only hiccup in the process. I strongly recommend this service. Their prices were slightly higher than what other legitimate companies quoted (by maybe ~ $100 - $200), but given their professionalism and friendly nature, I think the extra cost is well worth it.
They didn't show up for my move. I missed my flight and had to extend my lease. Stay away from these crooks. Absolutely terrible. I would do zero stars if possible.
