Great and smooth move! They were very professional, and hard working. Strong guys and maintained awareness of sensitive items. Think of Lennie (Of Mice and Men), minus the "oops I broke the bunny," add in Stefan Urquel - they knew what they were doing and handled business like pros. Pricing was clear and no hidden fees. We moved with this company a few months back. Good movers, we thought yet when we began to move our stuff from storage we found MANY damaged items. Probably $1,000 worth of damage and not a hint of ownership on the issues at hand. The CEO is not taking ANY responsibility for the damages. No return on emails or phone calls. We will be sharing photos of all the damaged items shortly on social media. For example, a $5000 TV was wrapped in one cardboard wrapper with x4 boxes loaded on top of it. Totally unacceptable.

I've moved way more often than I care to admit. And I've had a *lot* of movers over the years. Maybe I'm a tough customer, but every single mover has annoyed me. Some have been too slow, some overdid the packaging or were otherwise inefficient, some were unprofessional. Point is, I'm easily disappointed. Shane and his crew were the best I've used. They were just perfect. Showed up on time, were friendly but professional, parked in a way that I hadn't thought possible but which greatly expedited the move (Shane's parking skills are nothing short of astounding), and just did everything right. Seems straightforward but I've literally never encountered a crew that was so on the ball and hard-working. And they were cheaper than just about everyone else we contacted. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.

Use them if you want your things broken! I went with this company because they had good reviews. Shane came to my house looked at my stuff told me they could have the truck loaded in 1 and 1/2 hours. I only needed them to help with the heavy things I couldn't help my Husband so we only used the minimum. After he realized I was only doing the minimum things went downhill quickly. They put a fist punch in the back of my book shelf. My washing machine is all scratched up and they broke the drum so it is off balance. My dryer they broke the coil to the heating element. Boxes of things like sentimental glasses were shattered. They would pick up my tubs to move them put them upside down on their heads and then when they put them in the house they wouldn't bend to place them on the floor they would just drop them from a standing position! I thought they were nice guys personally but as far as moving your stuff I would think again! To comment on the company's response. Talk about lies. First we purchased a million dollar home so the expense wasn't an issue. We had a closing date so I never said we were going to move anything ahead of time because we couldn't even access the house until the move date. There was no insurance or cash out or trying to get money. If that was the case I would have asked you to pay for the washer repair person that came out and fixed my washer that you said you would pay for. You also said you would repair my bookshelf but I dropped it because I didn't want to deal with the hassle. So it wasn't all about the money like you are implying. I am merely trying to save the next customer the problems I encountered that's what yelp is for. Pictures speak a thousand words so view them and see for yourself.

We used Flat Rate Moving twice in the last two months. First they moved several pieces of furniture, a bunch of boxes and miscellaneous odds and ends from our home in Oakland to San Luis Obispo. We were initially won over by Azer (the on-site estimator) and then by the customer service of Shane the owner. The initial rate was comparable to a couple other companies that we considered. What set Flat Rate Moving apart in the end is that the two movers (Azer and Pierre) worked so quickly and efficiently that the entire move took less time than quoted resulting in a significantly lower final cost. They handled our heavy furniture and negotiated winding stairs on both ends with no complaints and no damage. I appreciate a business model that sets a realistic estimate of the cost with an upside cap and then delivers well below the initial estimate. Two weeks later our daughter contracted with Flat Rate to move our remaining furniture into short term storage in Castro Valley. This time Azer, Pierre and Robert showed up to complete the move. All three are fast, strong, respectful and personable. And again the move came in under the initial estimate. Having had negative experiences with prior moving companies it was a relief to have a company like Flat Rate handle both of these moves. Highly recommend...
