In my opinion, how companies act when things go awry is more defining than how they act when things go as planned. I used Piggyback for a move from Orlando to Scottsdale, AZ. Initially, they were my second choice simply because they use freight carriers that don't offer inside delivery. However, after a frustrating conversation with a salesman at the company I had intended to use, I called them back and spoke with Nikki. Nikki was immediately helpful, thorough and kept to her word of calling me back when she said she would, which means a lot to me. Fast forward to the snafu. When my things were delivered, my box spring had been crushed, likely having been hit my something motorized (i.e. a forklift along the way while being handled by a freight carrier). However, it was immediately apparent that Piggyback had taken great care in packing everything, including the box spring, and that there wasn't anything that they had done to cause it. Everything else arrived safely and without ANY damage. The next day, I called Nikki who was genuinely apologetic and assured me that Piggyback would make it right. I had nightmares of being told to read the fine print somewhere in the contract but Nikki was able to make things right and do so very quickly. I also received an apology letter from Nikki a couple of days later which was a nice touch. I would recommend Piggyback without hesitation!

I used this company for a small load from Ocala, FL to Delray Beach, FL this April. They completely wrapped the furniture and had it here the week I called them. Make sure to get a written estimate sent to your email. I would definitely use them again as many companies would not do a small load. It was worth the extra cost to not deal with loading and unloading a rental truck for me.

If you care about your possessions and want them to get safely from point A to B, PIGGY BACK MOVING IS THE ONLY COMPANY TO USE. I've used them twice in the past month and they were excellent...professional, caring and CLEAN. That's important because the first movers we had lined up arrived in a filthy truck with movers who were smoking and reeked, besides being rude. Chrissy helped me out of a jam when I refused to use that other company and with just a few hours notice arranged for Bruce and Alan, brothers, very pleasant and in a clean truck to take care of our first move. It went smoothly, quickly and stress-free. And rates are better than competitive and worth every penny. So of course this is the only company and team I used for my second move (actually my daughter's) and again the move was a PLEASANT EXPERIENCE INSTEAD OF A DREADFUL ONE. Both times, there was zero breakage and no missing boxes, etc. Search no further - PIGGY BACK MOVING IS THE ONLY MOVER YOU'LL EVER NEED.

This Company moved family from Orlando to Pennsylvania. We had special needs for comprehensive services from packing, to moving a car to unpacking. Their casual approach belies the professional outcome. Every item was delicately wrapped and packed. Every box was labeled. They worked non-stop to pack, load the truck, and load the car and finished late into the evening. They maintained constant contact while in transit. And they agreed to accommodate a special request for a Saturday delivery. The team carefully unloaded furniture and boxes. Our efforts to help were met with resistance as they insisted on moving every box and item for us. They hauled away packing materials, assembled beds and other furniture. Not a single item was broken or harmed. Every piece was placed exactly as we wished. They even moved furniture when we changed our mind. Everyone was very courteous and friendly. The prices were exactly as quoted. The sole surprise was how they exceeded our expectations. I admit I was skeptical at first and I considered a nationally advertised van line but I'm so glad I accepted their proposal. Aside from the terrific service and follow-up, their quote was the lowest. I highly recommend this company.

BEWARE: Piggyback Moving and Storage is not a reputable company. They are blue collar criminal scam artists. Calling themselves a business is a cover for an organized criminal operation. PLEASE read full review before hiring them. No one deserves the ludicrous nightmare I went through with them. Avoid doing business with them at all costs. I hired a crew of 2 movers for a small 2 bedroom 2 bath move from south Florida to DC. All the furniture was left behind accept 4 pieces of furniture, 5 pieces of wall art and 1 sculpture. All packing of items was completed well before their arrival. I have done many cross country moves Anyone would feel scammed given my experience. 1. They quoted me $2,00 for my 2 bedroom 2 bath partial move. Conveniently after loading the truck they sent over an invoice for nearly $10,000. I thought it was a typo. It was not. Mind you, I moved the same items from California to Florida for $3,500 with one of the national moving companies. 2. They showed up more than 1/2 a day late on 1st day. Movers were scheduled for early morning. Movers did not show up until 3:00 in the afternoon. 3. They showed up over 1 hour late the second day. 4. I have never seen working men move so slowly before. The speed of the move was a joke and clearly intentional. 5. Movers were on the verge of going into a 3rd day for the move. Until my 2 female employees who oversaw the 2nd day got fed up with the two men's slowness and began pushing boxes and furniture outside themselves. Otherwise, the move would have taken a 3rd day to complete. 6. The customer service rep was so crass, foolish and irrational. The mangers was equally as cuckoo. Chrissy Chappman and Nikki Taylor are incapable of rationalizing logically, thus are clearly in on the scam. Run away form this terrible operation.

They have moved to Tampa, FL, so the Key Largo location is no longer accurate. They moved my goods out of a U-Haul (totally stuffed) 5'x5'x8' tall storage unit in Ocala, FL and shipped them to Modesto, CA. The goods were picked up on about December 10, 2014 and arrived in Modesto on about December 30. First, the storage unit items were shipped to the Piggyback Tampa warehouse using their own movers, then they used FedX for the trip from Tampa to Modesto. I was not in Ocala when the goods were picked up. UHaul monitored the pickup for me. (Uhaul Ocala, FL on Pine Street is another really good business to deal with btw.) Nothing was damaged or missing in the shipment upon arrival. The boxes from the storage unit arrived on two wood pallets and were shrink wrapped. FED X dropped off the goods in my driveway. My own laborers brought the pallets inside for me. In addition to over a dozen large boxes and plastic storage units, there was an heirloom 250# wood armoire in the group. Everyone I dealt with was super nice over the phone. The cost for this service was $1,792.50. Ocala, FL is remote from the major cities in FL, and getting the goods moved out of Ocala to Tampa where it was then easy to find a cheap shipper was my challenge in getting the goods to Modesto. Noone would do it as cheaply as Piggyback Movers. I was worried a little bit about using them, as they are not a nationally known moving company, but the gamble paid off. I saved about $300 from the next highest quote to move my goods. Didn't have one problem with PiggyBack Movers. I dealt with Nikki and Chrissie. I also spoke with the FedX representative in Modesto. Piece of cake the whole way.

I never write reviews but felt compelled to do so because of the absolutely horrible experience I recently had with Piggyback Moving and Storage. If I can prevent 1 more person from a similar experience, than my time was well spent. On August 26, 2014 I spoke with Nikki and hired Piggyback to move furniture and personal items and store them for several months. Nikki was very professional and helpful and told me the hourly rate, travel charges and storage charges. She told me they would be at my address at 10:00 AM Tuesday Sept. 2. My apartment was 1 block from Piggyback's location so it seemed to be a pretty simple and straightforward move. Nikki required a $95 deposit and took my credit card information and emailed me a contract. I signed and returned the contract and was relieved that I was all set. On Sunday Aug. 31 at approximately 4:00 pm I received a call from Chrissy saying that they wouldn't be able to move me. I was shocked to say the least, that less than 48 hours before the move on a Holiday weekend, they called to cancel. I explained that it was critical that I be moved out on Tuesday Sept. 2 or I would face significant financial charges. I asked how you they could wait 5 days from my deposit and now call me with such short notice. Chrissy apologized and said she would call other movers she knew to see if one of them could move me. She said she would call as soon as she found out. I never heard back from Chrissy. On Tuesday Sept. 2 I called their office to remind them that I was owed a $95 credit to my credit card. When I asked for Chrissy or Nikki, I was told that they were closed and would have to call back on Wed. Now I'm even more upset that they cancelled my move at the last minute, and they were closed on top of it. It appears that they weren't too busy to move me, they just weren't working that day and couldn't be bothered to make good on our contract. It's situations like this that give the moving industry a bad name. You make your own decisions about hiring movers, but I wouldn't use them if they offered to move me for free. Moving is stressful under the best of circumstances, and they had no regard for the situation they put me in. Horrible service & incredibly unreliable. It's shocking to me that they are even in business.

On February 16, 2015 I spoke with Chrissy and she gave me a quote to move 40 small and medium boxes (bought from U-Haul) and a 42 inch flat screen tv that would be packaged at the time of the pick up. Chrissy gave me a quote for 800$ for the total of my shipment. She wrote up a contract, and I got it back to her within the same day. They took 350$ as a down payment, and I was informed the rest would be taken at the time of pick-up. She told me I had nothing left to do. Here I am three weeks out, and I get a call from a lady named Nikki at Piggy Back Moving. She informs me that they have switched owners and no longer make shipments to the west coast. She gave me the name of a company similar to theirs and referred me to them. She told me I would get my deposit back within a week. I called up the company and they quoted me 1700$, more than double of what I was originally paying for! I called Piggy back movers back and explained that this was too short of notice to get a reasonable quote that won't end up costing me an arm and a leg. She argued with me that it wasn't a short notice. When you are moving across country, something that you have been planning for a year, three weeks IS SHORT NOTICE. I tried to get in touch with the manager and she kept telling me she wasn't there and then eventually they started ignoring my phone calls. This is terrible customer service! Regardless of whether or not you stopped shipping orders to the West, you fulfill the orders you have scheduled! Especially if they are in contract and took your money! Also, I checked the website again today and it seems to have changed in appearance, but on the main page it clearly states they will ship anywhere in the US! I am beyond irritated with this company. They have broken a contract at a short notice and won't fulfill their end of the deal. What upsets me the most, is they say they will ship anywhere, but are cancelling my order right before I am due to leave! I do NOT recommend this company to anyone. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and I will be seeking out an attorney! Update as of 6/9/15; response to Nikki t.'s comment: 6/9/15- Nikki, I did speak with you originally yesterday when you called to to tell me you cancelled my move. You did in fact tell you that your company switched owners, and decided not to send shipments to to west coast. Not once did you mention that it was because it was too small or because Chrissy gave me too small of a rate. Yesterday, when I called back you also informed me that three weeks is not short notice for cancelling when someone is moving across country. I have been planning this move for a year. It is short notice. Most people move during the summer, and the rates last minute are incredibly high. If you realized sooner that someone in your company underquoted me, maybe you should have called alot sooner. At this point in our conversation you were arguing with me and blatantly told the reason why I was upset was because I wanted a great rate. The time I called and asked for a supervisor was at 3:50 pm, you told me your manager would be back in fifteen minutes or so and for me to call back. I have yet to receive any call from any higher authority. The moving company you happen to refer me to wanted more than double of what I would have paid with your company because I was scheduling it last minute. The company even said that's why their rates were higher! And apparently it is normal for your company to call and cancel last minute, look at your yelp reviews... many people have complained about it. When you said that you would check with dispatch and let me know, you never got back with me. The only thing you informed me of was the other company. Nikki has been the ONLY person I have been able to get ahold of at this company. I called several times again yesterday before they closed and my calls were left unanswered. Today I was informed by Nikki the refunded my deposit yesterday on their end. Well guess what, I called my bank today and we reviewed my transactions and they don't see any sign of a credit or pending transaction coming through my account. There is no sign of a refund for my deposit. I also tried to speak with Nikki MANY times, and shes hung up on me quite a few times. I was pretty upset, but saying that I would rather yelp and inform others, rather than allowing you to help me further is a lie. Nikki told me on the phone today that she COULDN'T help me out any further and that I needed to find another company. Nikki may have left me another option, but this other option is going to cost me more than double the initial cost. If I would have known sooner I could have gotten a better rate from another company and this wouldn't be an issue. This company has not offered the best costumer service they possibly could have.

Used piggyback movers and would not recommend. ..Glass broken on curio cabinet, shelves missing on bookcase ..Delivered to my house over 1000 miles by guy in a small truck towing a trailer . He was the only mover so my husband had to help carry the furniture ..forget about getting $ to repair damaged goods ....they hang up on you, tell you they will call you back and don't, after that thanks to caller ID they don't answer your calls and when you try to fool them by calling from a different phone , once they answer and you identify yourself...they hang up ! BEWARE !!

My original review for Piggyback Moving & Storage is over 16,000 characters - far beyond Yelp's limit of 5,000. Below is the super-condensed version of the full review, which can be read here: http://www.phantom42.com/blog/index.php/2012/04/moving-hell-piggyback-moving-storage-sucks/ Here are the bullet points: -A front office worker from Piggyback came to our home and met with my wife to calculate how big of a truck would be needed. She pointed out items that needed to be packed certain ways and which other items would be packed by their own movers. -My wife was told that the same team who would be loading the truck would be the same team driving the truck and unloading it in Maryland -The team of three movers (Roger, Joe, and Chris) showed up having no idea that they would be required to pack anything themselves. They were unprepared and had to spend time during the day going to U-Haul to purchase packing materials. -It took 7 hours for a team of three to load the truck. -We were told it would be 2-3 days before the truck arrived in MD. -The truck could supposedly not be reached by phone during the drive (according to Nikki, the office manager). -By 5pm on day 2 on the road (for the moving team), we assumed that they were not coming that night. No big deal. -The truck showed up at 7pm - with only one person (Roger) to unload the truck. -According to Roger, it was his first job with the company. He says he argued that he needed more people, but was told, "She's married right? Get her husband to help unload." -Roger claimed he could unload the truck by himself in 3-4 hours total. There were items that no one person could carry by themselves. -Roger claimed that he had been pulled over by the DOT for ignoring weigh/inspection stations based on instructions from management. -He ended up sleeping in the cab over night after not being able to find a reasonably priced hotel with a vacancy nearby. -It ended up taking Roger 11 hours to unload the truck - with 2 hours of help from me and a few hours of help from a neighbor. -Our glass dining room table was severely chipped. Items were warped out of shape. Pegs for bookcase shelves (disassembled/packed by the movers) were lost. Items were scratched. -Roger blamed the damage and slow loading on the other two workers. -Nikki claimed that Roger had been with the company for a long time. -Nikki told ME that Roger requested to do the move/unload by himself. -Nikki later told my wife that it was standard procedure for only one mover to be sent with the truck for the drive and unload. (Remember when they told her that the same team would be used for load AND move/unload). -Nikki never actually denied the "get her husband to help" story, but called Roger a liar on just about every other story. -Roger felt like the company was trying to rush him. He didn't understand why; the estimate said 3-5 days for the full job to be completed. He saw no reason why he couldn't take 11+ hours to unload the truck. In summation: Nikki at Piggyback Moving & Storage told either me or my wife lies. Their crew (Roger) possibly (probably) lied to us. They were incredibly slow and inefficient. They were unprepared (due to a lack of communication). Their crew could not be reached by phone during the drive. There's plenty more at the blog, but the above deal with the worst offenses. Do not use Piggyback Moving & Storage for moves.

Very disappointed with this group. After the death of my mother I wanted to ship a chair from Florida to California. I was quoted a price and told them I would call back. No one, by the way, even offered any sympathy when I explained what I was doing. I called back and said I would do it and they then told me the shipment would be after we left. So I found a place to store the chair and called again trying to set something up. They did not return my calls until I finally talked to someone else who was a bit nicer. After all that, they said they could do it but it would cost nearly triple the original quote. I felt that was not only unprofessional but also unsympathetic given my situation.
