I highly recommend this moving company. Spartan Van lines was moving perfection from A to Z . Starting with Debbie give me a quote and then working with me on the price. Now let me explain a little bit. I am a moving company's worst nightmare. When I gave her an inventory of what I wanted moved I was very Casual about it and did not include everything. This was not intentional it was just I've never done this before. then I was vacillating between selling all my furniture and not moving it or using a mover. Debbie was very informative and patient. She help me with the cost analysis between selling my furniture or having it moved and the benefits to each side. She wrote me estimates and then I change the parameters and she got me new estimates and I change the parameters and then she got me new new estimates. I think by the end of this move I had gotten probably 10 estimates from her with different items or TV boxes being included or TV stands with glass all sorts of nuances that I had no idea about prior to this move. Debbie rolled with the flow 100%. She gets a prize for patience. Thank you again Debbie!!! Now it's the day of the move and I am rushing rushing rushing. Jose from the team calls me and says he's going to be there in approximate 30 minutes, And I explain to him that I still have my bedroom closet to pack and would it be possible for him to go out to lunch or take a little longer than 30 minutes to get there. He tells me no problem at all I'll figure something out for me not to worry for me to just be relaxed and he understood how unnerving a move can be. Then his team gets there. It's three guys their names were Jose yordy yael. These guys were fantastic. They wrapped everything 100% 110% if that is such a thing. There were some things that I had forgotten that I had run out of room and it wasn't a bunch of stuff but it was enough that it would've jammed me up because I couldn't fly with it to New York, and they took care of it for me at no extra charge. I made them promise not to tell Debbie because I've gone back-and-forth with Debbie so much I was sure that she was going to hunt me down If she heard that I made any changes when they got there. Like I said they were courteous and professional and even a little bit funny some of them. They did a stellar job on my move. Then they went over everything with the paperwork they were very clear and concise had me sign statements as to what the work was performed and left. It was seamless. And the price was right... Anybody moving should definitely use Spartan van lines and ask for Debbie.

I had a great experience with spartan moving...until the drop off. Pickup was fantastic. They packed all of our stuff quickly and it seemed like they took care to do it right. The guys were so nice and helpful. We loved this part of our experience. Unfortunately, the drop off was the exact opposite. It all started when we decided to take advantage of the 1 month free storage. First, they loaded our stuff on a truck and told us it was coming, after we had asked them to store it. They took it off the truck, nbd. Then, when we finally got our place and were ready for the shipment, we experienced a LOT of delays. They told us there was a 2 week delivery window which we were fine with. Unfortunately, our new HOA doesn't allow deliveries on weekends so we told them they would need to have the shipment come during the week. Literally 5/7 days they could come. Then, I got a notification saying they had our stuff on a truck and it would be delivered on Saturday. I mentioned again that we couldn't accept deliveries weekends. They said ok, and this started another 2 week delivery window. THIS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES. Every time they reset the 2 week window. We owned our condo for over a month before we got our shipment in. THEN, when the shipment finally arrived, the delivery people were incredibly unhelpful and rude. It was clear they did not want to be there. They started bringing our stuff upstairs and did not put any of our furniture back together (even though we paid for them to do that) because they couldn't find the screws (they were in one of the boxes), but they didn't unpack boxes, so they couldn't put it together. SERIOUSLY!? The kicker was our 1 year old couch that we loved. They told us they couldn't get it in the elevator because it didn't fit. I asked if they could take it up the stairs and they said yes, it was 75$ per flight of stairs, which is apparently defined by turns. So instead of 3 flights (3 stories) we would be charged for 6. They brought the couch to the staircase and didn't even try to get it up. All they said was that it wouldn't fit. Then, they basically gave me the option of either leaving it in the parking lot for me to deal with or taking it to a friends house 24 miles away. At this point I was so upset I ended up paying them $250 to take the damn couch 24 miles down the highway. The kicker is that I GOT THE COUCH UP THE STAIRS. ME. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL MOVER. Do not use this company. They will just disappoint you. Also, I'm still waiting for my reimbursement check, over 1 month later for the $250 to get it to our friend's house.

My family and I had a really great experience with Spartan! They made moving from San Francisco to Las Vegas super easy. It's a huge move, I know! Everyone we came in contact with at Spartan was friendly and professional. So, we really felt at ease and knew we were in good hands. We could not have asked for anything more. I moved from San Francisco to New Jersey. The thought and preparation of the moving from coast to coast is stressful already. Choosing the right moving company is the key for a piece of mind. There are so many movers online, giving the price quotes from many different states. I felt uncomfortable going forward with one of them just based on the price quote. My thought process was to have a company that is reachable in town so that I could communicate better . I am very happy that I contacted Spartan Vanlines in SF. The representative (Ms. Mercedes- what an amazing, professional person!) gave a visit to my apartment and took the list of my inventory. She quoted the price in minutes. She really did her best to give me tips on fitting in to my budget and explained options of how leaving stuff behind could save me money to fit into my budget. That was amazing! She gave me time to think about my options and get back to her with my final inventory. Pick up date was set and movers showed up on time. Everything was packed very well. They even added corner pads to my furniture to avoid damages. The process was very quick. The manager from the main office made sure to call me at every different step ( pick up- inventory check after the pick up to make sure we are still on the same page with the price- staff's work and attitude- cleaning the stuff after they leave- arrival call- delivery- clean up again) to make sure the customer satisfaction was met. I felt like they really take their business serious and I don't have to reach them out, they were already with me at every step! Delivery was done within the promised time frame. There was no hidden fees when the delivery is done. Assembly of my furniture was done very carefully. I had minor damages only on my Ikea stuff. The pictures of the damage were taken right away and the customer service evaluated the damage in 2 days and sent me a check in $150 ( I did not have additional insurance just the basic one which came already with the moving contract). I highly recommend this family company for local or long distance moving.

It's a great experience, my move is from SF to NYC. Mercedes's gave me a lowest price(I quoted 3 others moving companies). Everything get well packed and delivered. One thing make it not perfect is the NY local deliver company(Road mover) missed the 1st appointment, but it's ok

This was an awesome moving company and I've recommended them to people in real life. We moved form SF to Chicago moving a 1 br apt. They were about half the price of any other moving company (which made me nervous) but they delivered (that's a semi moving pun for you). We were fine with the potential wait time for our furniture in order to save money, but we got our stuff only a few days after we arrived, in our requested window! Everyone was helpful and polite, and I genuinely feel badly it's taken me so long to write this review. We had a small amount of damage to our furniture (a cheap table leg was very loose and a small unseeable chip off our lay-z-boy) but nothing big or expensive. Would definitely recommend them, and am bummed they are not in more locations/located in the midwest!

We moved from Bay Area to South Carolina and Spartan was GREAT from start to finish! All their employees were courteous, on time, knowledgeable, and helpful. They answered our questions - multiple questions - and were always responsive throughout the process. Will was great to work with! Spartan staff arrived to pick up our stuff on time and the delivery on the other end was perfect! No breakage; no damage; no extra charges; no problems! We have happily referred two friends to them and they have had similarly wonderful experiences! Highly recommend them!!

Spartan Van Lines was amazing. They were professional and efficient. I spoke with Mercedes over the phone planning my move and she followed up with a few calls to check status. I wasn't sure when I'll be moving depending on my apt. The movers did a great job. Quick and efficient. I did however loose a backing to an Iron Rod Easel however Cheryl in customer service accommodated my missing item by paying me for this lost item. All in all if I were to move again, I would definitely used them and call Mercedes directly.

I moved from San Francisco to Raleigh, North Carolina and Mercedes helped me to get started. Carlos was the dispatcher. I like that you can send a video in of your inventory to get the quote rather than trying to guesstimate the volume. I had a great experience with my move and would recommend Spartan to anyone.

The good thing about Spartan Van Lines is that they are not a broker. In other words, they move your things. They don't outsource to a secondary moving company. And they come to your house to estimate the volume of goods to be moved, which is great compared to brokers who estimate from their desk. But that's where the goodness ends as far as I'm concerned. My initial in-home estimate for my two-bedroom apartment was 821 cubic feet. I was astounded, since just three years earlier I moved in with about 550-600 cubic feet of goods. I expressed my displeasure with the initial estimate and Spartan basically told me to go blow. Only when I promised to file a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration did the company President respond and agree to come out and do another estimate. His estimate was 782 cubic feet. Not one to be gamed, I ordered a UPack trailer and packed and loaded it myself on 9/27/18. I used 9 feet of trailer, or 630 cubic feet. If I could have put the bulkhead in at 8 feet (not possible the way the trailer is laid out), I wouldn't have even needed that extra foot of trailer. That would have got me down to 558 cubic feet, or pretty much what I said I'd need at the start of all this. I'm sure Spartan does a good job with their moves, but be prepared for your estimate to be 25% higher than you actually need.

Do not hesitate to use Spartan! I spoke to probably 10 companies before choosing Spartan for or move from San Francisco, CA to Boulder, CO. They were recommended by a co-worker and they were the friendliest, least pushy, most honest, and felt like a real company vs. the others. They're local and always available to chat. They were incredibly patient with me (we ended up selling stuff and had to do a second estimate via facetime after the first in-person estimate). Our stuff arrived earlier than expected, everything was there and nothing was broken. Shocking, right?! Would use them again in a heartbeat.

I moved from SF to Atlanta with about 10 months of storage in between. I had them come over and estimate the cost, pack, store and then deliver. I was really pleased. My items were well packed, nothing was broken and despite the multiple moves I have everything I started with. I highly recommend them.

Spartan Van Lines did a fantastic job moving me and my gf from SF to OAK. Armando handled my booking. He was professional, friendly and personable. Caesar and crew showed up on time with a great attitude. They worked super hard and came to the job with plenty of free wardrobe boxes which they used for just about everything. I thought I was ready to go but realized I had some last minute things to pack(which seems to always be the case when moving). They were very accommodating and were so fast packing up that it took me by surprise. The pricing was very fair compared to all of the other moving companies I called. They charge double drive time from where you're moving to where you're going which is nice because a lot of other movers charge from the time they leave their location to your final destination which seems like a rip off to me. Bottom line: Good people, hard workers, fair price.

We moved cross country from San Francisco to New York City in December 2018 to January 2019. We looked at several different moving companies before settling on Spartan Van Lines. Thank goodness we did as our expectations were exceeded. No hidden charges as we have experienced in the past and wonderful, competent employees from start to finish. All our questions were courteously and thoroughly answered throughout the process. Moving can be so stressful and finding a company that does what they say they are going to do is a relief. I would recommend Spartan to family and friends without hesitation.

My girlfriend and I recently moved from SOMA to Concord and hired Spartan. It only took 7 hours for our move. Guys were efficient and did a great job!

We moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to the Portland/Vancouver Washington area and our move could not have gone smoother. From the very start, Mercedes was straight forward and extremely easy to deal with and the movers we dealt with were nice, courteous and efficient. Wow-- super impressive with Spartan! We're moving to Colorado and after shopping around for moving trucks, decided on Spartan. We found solid reviews all around for them and love that they are a family owned business. All of our interactions with the company -- from initial quote, to confirming the day before the pick-up, to working with the movers have been super positive, too (it's also worth noting how competitive their pricing was, as well). This was my first time working with a moving company as an adult, though moving around a lot growing up my family had some less than desirable experiences with other moving companies so I was pretty nervous doing into this. Our place isn't huge, but over time we've gotten some nice furniture and cooking supplies so I wanted to make sure everything got their safely. Not only were three movers (Chava, Quiqe, and Roberto) super nice and respectful, but they thoroughly wrapped up all our furniture (we did the rest of the packing ourselves). They wrapped big items in blankets, taped them up, and them wrapped them in shrink wrap. When we realized there were a few items we had forgotten about in the quote that we wanted included (my fiance's empty golf bag and extra rug), they were super accommodating and included them at extra cost. At one point, a box did make a tumble down our front steps (I think it was the first box going out), but they were super apologetic, went through the box with us to make sure everything was ok (which it was), gave us a discount for the trouble, and we shortly received three different phone calls from the home office to make sure everything was ok. It was one of those situations where a company shows you how trustworthy or great they are by how well and honestly they handle the problem and I am confident that everything will be more than ok. This is my first experience with a moving company and so far I only have good things to say about Spartan. My wife and I are moving to WA from the Bay Area, and after getting some quotes from different companies, we went with Spartan based on their quote, delivery time and yelp reviews. Josh came to our apartment and was very helpful in explaining the whole process as well as taking accurate inventory of our belongings, and was quick to respond to follow up emails. On move day, Chava, Diego and Yonatan showed up 15 minutes earlier than the schedule time and were very helpful, efficient and professional with packing our stuff. They were fast and packed everything properly as well as making sure that all the stuff that needed to go was packed. Hopefully they great experience will continue with the delivery of our items in a few days but I'm sure it will based on how things have gone so far.

Worse company I ever moved with! Our nightmare started with a quote that did change and went up days before the move. After lots of email exchange the price went down. Our move was from the Bay Area to NY/CT. Once we got our move the driver had 4 guys helping to unload. The guys had no idea that they had to assemble our furniture after unloading the truck. One of the guys was completely drunk and making me feel uncomfortable with his jokes. He ended up leaving earlier to take his mom to church on a Monday mid- day. The other guys tried to help but because o f a lack of experience putting furniture together and a lot of missing pieces, most of our furniture was left, completely packed, broken, or missing parts. Our bed is still on the floor as they left it because the parts are still missing. Our cabinets are broken and our belongings still in boxes because they company says they have no insurance that can pay for the damage. The things is that the furniture got damage and lost because of the lack of professionalism of the company. Our Noguchi table was wrapped in a blanket where both pieces where hiding each other creating deep dents. Our breakfast table has a crack underneath it and all sides have deep scratches and dings from not being wrapped properly. Our office chair is broken, our dinning room table was assembled incorrectly and is breaking due to pressure mounting in the wrong places. Our canvas was cut, our garbage cans have deep dings, our curtain rods were trashed as the were put together and were rubbing against each other scratching them from CA to CT. Basically all furniture that they packed has been damaged. I will attach pictures but feel free to contact me former pictures or to get a copy of the emails I have exchanged with them. Spartan response was that they could give me $900,00 for all the damage that they created by hiring inexperienced, unqualified and unprofessional people to do the job that they advertise will be done professionally by caring movers. Our damaged is valued in over $5,000,00 and they wont consider taking responsibility since they lack professionals to do job as advertised. Mark is not the owner and have not answered questions honestly. The company lack an interest to actually take care of the problem.
