I hired this moving company based on other reviews. I was expecting to hear from them by the end of business on 3/27/19 with a time frame for my move on 3/28/19 as I was told. What I wasn't told is that they would not contact me until at least 7pm. When I reached out to them, their was a delay in response and lack of communication which worried me as I have to move out by a certain time. If the person selling me their service would have said that during the time of my confirmation I would not have had a problem with this. Please see the text message conversation and how degrading he was to me. He cancelled my move, which in return cost me 1200$ to get help from another company because it was a rush.

I am in love. Best movers ever. Steven in sales can come off a bit harsh, but if you've ever been on the other side of customer service, you can relate. He's from up north, he eventually warms up, & is very accommodating. We had to shuffle around some furniture between my family's homes, and my own unexpectedly due to renovations, and he got me in within two days. CJ & Jeff were AMAZING. Punctual, polite, and STRONG. They fulfilled all my requests with half an hour to spare. Jemlynn Tatlonghari's Pro Tips for a Smooth Move and Better Quality of Life in General Before the move 1. Do your part, research, ask questions, and address concerns in advance so you can make an informed decision. I wouldn't discredit negative reviews because I've had bad experiences myself; but keep in mind that people rarely take the time to write an unsolicited positive review on the BBB. That's usually the last recourse when something bad happens, and bad things can happen with any company. I was wary myself when I first read the horror stories, but the positive reviews EVERYWHERE else far outweighed the negative. It's a risk, but it ended up being worth it. 2. Groupon is a great way to find great deals, companies, and reviews, but I always recommend reaching out to the business directly before purchasing. Be a decent human and give them the opportunity to negotiate. Groupon takes a significant chunk and small business owners can usually match or beat the deal and you both end up with more in your pocket. Support local! 3. ALWAYS pay the extra fee to reserve the first AM slot. You'll get the team fresh and rested, so it'll probably end up saving you money. During the move 4. Be realistic. 5. Communicate your end goal so they can determine the best way to execute (order to load/unload, path, etc.) 6. Offer cold water throughout. After the move 7. Tip well. I always recommend cash and pizza. Donuts too, but that's more for me not them. 8. Take the time to write honest reviews. Disclaimer: I was not paid for this review. I am just a lonely, exceptional writer who is unusually passionate about moving companies.

i used Hoffman for 2 moves. my first move was about 3 months ago and they did a good job and got everything done in about 2 hours and thats the only reason this review is geting 2 stars rather than 1. the second move was last week and i had the same movers come to move my stuff so its disappointing how bad the job went. the second time around they cursed at the maintenance workers in my new complex because the sprinklers turned on so that was very unprofessional. They also broke a leg off one of my lamps, and scraped up my couch trying to get it up the stairs. they said they weren't able to get it up the stairs unless they forced it but i would have to sign a waiver incase theres any damage even though they had ALREADY DAMAGED the couch trying to get it up the stairs the first time. i even pointed that out and it went ignored. i wont use them again but hey you get what you paid for and honestly i couldn't afford any other mover. if the movers cared a little more about the work they are doing they probably wouldn't get such bad reviews and would probably get more business. the people who are in charge of hiring may want to consider getting different workers.

The worst moving experience ever. Pay extra for larger TVs, if you live above the second floor and if their movers take longer than expected. Movers were two men that couldn't lift anything at all and didn't use any of the usual moving equipment (hand trucks). They also didn't use moving blankets in their trailer, dragged the mattress through the dirt and spilled the DVDs all over the hallway (and then poorly stacked them back in the box). Damages totaled over $2500. Dropped UHD TV (that was properly secured) so hard that it broke, took a dent out of the dining room table, scratched the entertainment console, and broke a shelf on an end table. Tried to file a claim through the website and never received a response. Contacted owner multiple times with pictures and was ignored. Gave them over 3 weeks to make things right. No response.

I would leave a zero star for this company if I could. About six weeks ago they were scheduled to move me. I took off work for the move and I called in the morning up just to make sure that everything was OK. When I called I learned that they would not be moving me that day and they hadn't even bother to give me a call to let me know. Amanda in the office said that she was issuing a refund and that it would be in my bank depending on how long my bank took to issue refunds. It has been six weeks they did not move me and I have still not gotten my money back from them. I have texted him several times and tomorrow I will be filing a dispute with my bank. I do not suggest using these people as they are thieves.
